The School District of Nome seeks qualified candidates for a School Social Worker/Elementary School Counselor position. We seek candidates with a Bachelors or Masters Degree (preferred) in Social Work, or a Masters degree in Counseling with Type C Alaska certification. Successful experience with elementary-aged students is preferred. Successful experience working in multi-cultural environments is preferred. Salary based on experience and training. Special Education Teacher Nome Elementary School Open until Filled
Certified Teacher - Nome Public Schools, Nome Alaska. [Special Education – Lower Elementary] Nome Public Schools is a rural bush Alaska city site school district offering a 188-day teaching position. Nome Public Schools is a learning community of 660 students and 50 teachers. Candidates must possess an Alaska Initial Teacher Certification or an Alaskan Professional Teacher Certification; with appropriate endorsement(s), or able to qualify for such by the first day of school. Prior successful Alaskan teaching experience is strongly preferred. This teaching position carries a special preference for expertise in working with paraprofessionals, parents, and service duties related to the pre-school setting. Dynamic skills in culturally relevant education practices, parent and community relations, differentiated and data based instruction are assets we seek in our teachers along with consistent and effective classroom behavior management skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of effective assessment methods and diagnostic individual learning profiles are both desired in our candidates.
