Extensions Homeschool Program

Our Mission

The Extensions Program seeks to extend quality education's influence into the community. This program serves Nome families dedicated to academic excellence who make a long-term commitment to teach their children in a home environment. Extensions will provide families with a wide variety of educational opportunities and curricular options to best facilitate and support students' total education plan.

Parents are the teachers. Parents choose the students' curriculum and align it with Alaska State standards with the aide of an academic advisor and the approval of a state certified staff member. After an individualized lesson plan is developed, parents have monthly contact with the academic advisor. The parent must submit quarterly paperwork to the advisor to evaluate student progress.
