Activities

Anvil Rock Hike: Weather permitting, we will go on our annual hike during the first week of school.
Annual Camping Trip: September 06-07, 2007
Fire Safety Talk: Fire Hall October 2007
ALISON Project: November through May, data collection at a local pond for a small group of students.
8th Grade Field Trip to DC: March 21-28, 2008

Athletics and Cheerleading

Students are allowed to participate in elementary and secondary athletics and cheerleading.

Band

Students are allowed to participate in elementary and secondary band. Please call Mr. Horner.

Class Rules

Lunches

Hot lunches need to be pre-paid. Make check out to Nome Public Schools. Students have a thirty- minute lunch at 12:30, so we provide a few minutes at the beginning of the third period for snacks.

PE

Students need to have a pair of gym shoes to change into for PE. There is space below their locker to store them.

Progress Reports

The staff will use e-mail to communicate daily with parents. The staff will also keep students and parents informed of a student's progress by utilizing the ThinkWave web site, which posts student grades on-line, with password protection. If you have not received your startup codes, please contact you the teacher.

Proper Dress

We will be outside throughout the school year. We cannot stress enough, the importance of dressing your child properly each and every day. Some days we might be waist-deep in mud and on another, taking temperature readings with a wind chill of -40.

School Hours / Bus Schedule

9:00 A.M. - 3:40 P.M. (May change to 9:05-3:45)
Students ride the junior high bus. No one is to ride the high school bus. If parents are bringing their children to school, they are not to arrive any earlier than 8:45 A.M.
  If students are being picked up in the afternoon, parents need to arrive by 3:45 P.M.

Staff Expectations

The teaching staff has high expectations of each and every student, both academically and socially. With these high expectations, students will be given numerous opportunities to succeed in the schoolwork and social development. We want each student to strive to do his or her very best in every endeavor. Students will be required to redo assignments that are messy, illegible, contain significant misspellings and / or not done according to directions.

School Supplies

Please make sure your child has all the supplies on the first day of school, we will be setting up notebooks on that day. The school supply list is located on the school's web site under the information link.

Tutoring

After school tutoring is available on a pre-arranged basis.
