Freedom is not free. You would think freedom was easy to maintain.
You go find some new land and start a community right? Not exactly,
there is much more to it than that. There are people who go fight
for our freedom while others just sit in front of their TV's
watching them. Freedom is great. You were not always able to go to school wearing whatever you want, go home after school, watch a little TV, do your homework then play outside. For instance the U.S.A. had to work very hard to get their freedom and to maintain it. The U.S.A. has fought many wars over freedom. The American Revolution was one of them. Every year thousands of people are killed fighting trying to keep us free. Also millions of dollars are spent on guns and ammo to keep us free. If there was peace we would not lose so many lives and so much money. It's just not right. The money spent on keeping us free could be used for many other things, such as a better hospital, building homes for the homeless, or more school supplies for the schools. We could buy millions of new things if the government's money was better spent. A better hospital means more lives are saved each year, and more school supplies means better education. It's not a bad thing that the government wants to keep us free. In fact, it's a good thing. But, if there was peace we would not have to spend as much money or risk as many lives on keeping us free.
