In a way I wouldn't say that freedom is free. Many people have died fighting for freedom and keeping it alive. Some even fought against their own government, to gain civil rights. Just because of their skin color. Many people have revolted against their harsh monarchs and tyrants just for what we have today as Americans. But they all had something in common They all fought for freedom. Many innocent lives where taken trying to gain true freedom. The world is full of people who are prejudice against another race of people. But during the 1960's many young and old black Americans where harassed and some still are just for their culture and skin color. In the 1960's black Americans took to the streets in pacifist protest, they protested so that they could be look upon and treated equally as their white counterparts. They wanted true freedom, they didn't want to be looked down upon because of their skin color. Their has been many wars like our own American Revolutionary War. The American Revolution was a war for freedom, the early colonist where being over-taxed and were not able to vote on whom they wanted to elect for parliament. And none of the profits that where made in the colonies staid in the colonies, it was all sent to England for the king and to finance their wars. In other words, the colonist were sort of slaves for the British government, they where over taxed for everything they made coming in and out of the colonies, without having their say. But eventually the colonists stood up against their British overlords and won the revolutionary war. They lost many lives and all the fighting was among their own homes where many of there families where exposed to the violence of the war. But our victory showed the rest of Europe that they did not have to bow down to their cruel Monarchs, this started many revolutions like the French revolution. A lot of lives are lost in wars some for the worst and some for the better. I hope that history never has to repeats itself. Many wars have been fought over religion from Jihad to crusades. In many African countries people are killed for not being Muslim or other religions. Or some people are considered out-cast if they are not the same religion as the majority of their community. But many people were killed for no real reason like the holocaust. They look for some one else to blame for their problems. In example if there was a huge out brake of a disease people would blame it on the Jews or some other group of people. People where tortured and killed by others, who were trying to change their religion by force. Many people are prejudice against a person's religion or skin color, just because they are different than him or her. Many people think that freedom is free because in their minds they think that rest of the world is like the U.S. But during the recent months our nation was attacked by terrorist, the terrorist came from a war thorn nation. This nation called Afghanistan showed the world that freedom is not free and it comes at the most tremendous price human lives, but the taxes we pay helps the U.S keep freedom alive. By supplying the world with aid and to help our military keep our country and other free nations free.
