The Pacific walrus lives as far north as the Chukchi Sea in the Arctic they also live as far south as the Kamchatka sea coast and the Aleutians. The walrus is one of the largest member of the pennipeds family, which consist of seals & other sea mammals. This family of sea mammals have been able to live in frigid waters and climates very well & are mostly found in the Pacific, Atlantic & Arctic Oceans.

Walrus are very large animals, weighing up to 1.5 to 2 tons. They have large broad muscles that it uses to help it feel for food at the sea bottom. Its whiskers are supported by a heavy muscle around its upper jaw & its ivory tusks are elongated into its upper canines. The walrus is covered by a short coarse fur, that is very warm considering it has a couple inches of fat under it. Even though they have a small head, they have a heavy neck and huge lips that help it suck the meat of clams & other crustaceans.

Walrus spend most of their time lying on ice floats or on rocky shores when ice is not available. They live near the shore or shallow water, so it's easier to reach the seabed for the food its needs to survive. Their diet consists of clams, snails, crabs, shrimps, worms & sometimes seals. But its diet may vary because in winter it's stays on ice floats in the Bering Sea and Arctic Ocean. In the summer it lives in the North Pacific around Kamchatka, Bristol Bay & Cook Inlent.
