Chionoecetes bairidi, also known as the tanner crab, has two pincers, eight legs, with the maximum age of 14 years. The average weight of a crab is 2-4 pounds. Male tanner crabs measure up to 5.4 inches, and female tanner crabs measure up to 3.5 inches. Tanner crabs like to eat sea worms, clams, mussels, snails, other crabs, and different parts of fish. Tanner crabs get fed upon by bottom fish and people. The tanner can be found in the North Pacific and the Bering Sea areas. Tanner crabs live in depths of 6-474 meters below the sea. The tanner crab can live in salt water, also known as seawater.
