My dream for America is to stop littering. Littering is ruining
America. It is poisoning and killing many animals. It is transforming
beautiful landscapes in to dirty junk yards. Litter is on the
streets, by buildings, in lakes, rivers, and streams. It may
even be by your house. There is so much, that almost everywhere
you look, there is litter.
So, you are probably wondering where all this litter comes
from. Well, it is said that it has come from litterers, mostly
from young men and women. Young men and women are usually stressed
and wouldn't want to add another chore to their schedule; just
the same for adults, too. Even as simple as spitting out their
gum in the trash is too much work for them. They also think that
a few pieces of trash isn't much harm to America…but look
at it now! A lot of people don't realize it, but a single piece
of trash can do harm. If you continued to litter, places may
start to smell and not look as beautiful as they once did before,
from all that litter.
Litter is mostly seen on highways. When most people are driving,
they dispose their trash outside of the car. Most kids love to
watch trash flying out of the car. A lot of litter is also seen
by and in the ocean. It comes from people out in the ocean dumping
their trash off the boat and in to the ocean. Trash also travels
in to the ocean by wind. Some people also enjoy throwing trash
in to the ocean, watching it float away.
Conventional Wisdom says that if everyone were to pick up just
a small amount of trash each day, it would all be gone. Yet,
for some reason, the solution hasn't been tried yet. Many places
in America have Clean-Up organizations, which does help, but
usually the trash just comes back. The solution would work if
you tried to pick up a small amount every day, but why hasn't
it been tried yet?
So in conclusion, I encourage people to stop littering and start
to pick up a small amount of trash each day. Once you start to
pick up a small amount each day, pretty soon it will all be gone!
So please start to pick up some trash each day. Encourage your
friends and family to pick up trash. Picking up trash will make
America a clean, beautiful, place to be. Picking up trash may
make many places smell a lot better, too.
