In my essay, I would like to talk about some of
Americas problems and what we can do to help solve them. For
example, pollution is a huge issue that is very crucial to what
lies in the future. We need to help the situation by not polluting
America any longer. Also, sometimes, our right are not withheld
and they need to be all the time. That is another issue that
I will be talking about.
America has many problems that must be dealt with. Pollution
is a growing problem in the United States. In 2000, 1.5 million
tons of pollutants from the U.S. and Canada alone were released
into the air, water, and ground. I believe that the most important
though is the waste dumped into rivers and other fresh water
sources. For example, according tot the Environmental Working
Group, the Mississippi River was exposed to 702,496,748 lbs.
Of direct toxic discharges in 1990-1994. It is the number one
most polluted river in the U.S.
There is some good news about pollution though. According to
John Heliprin, the total amount of environmental pollutants released
has decreased from 1.448 million tons in 1995 to 1.381 million
tons in 2000. The study also found that there was a 28 percent
drop in the amount of chemicals emitted into the air. Also,
organizations such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
have been contributing to the efforts to clean up America.
Our rights as Americans are unbeatable. They surpass that of
any other country, all thanks to the Bill of Rights. The Bill
of Rights ensures many different freedoms to Americans, such
as freedom of speech, religion and press, the right to bear arms,
and the right to a speedy and public trial of our peers, along
with many other rights. But, these rights are not always embraced
by all of America.
Some people are trying to say that some of our rights shouldn't
be rights at all. For example, some organizations are protesting
against the NRA (National Rifle Association) and against our
right as Americans to bear arms. What will happen if the constitution
is changed? I think that America shouldn't change anything.
It should stay the same way it has for years before because
we have always made it through anything.
In conclusion, my dream for America is to stop pollution altogether.
It is a terrible thing that needs to be ended. Also, our Bill
of Rights shouldn't be changed. I think that after all that
our country has been through over the years we need to just sit
back ahnd think for a moment about what's really important right
now
