Nature Illustrations &
Comparison of Myth and Scientific Views of Ravens

Day One
Using all five senses, students were to make detailed observations of their surroundings in four categories: nature, environment, self, and weather. After spending 20 minutes in an isolated spot on the tundra, students came together to share what they discovered. Finally, each person posed three questions for further study regarding the observations made during class.

Day Two
Students were taught a simple and practical way to correctly draw the proportions of tundra animals, starting with the raven. Also, students used their knowledge of complementary colors and overlapping of combinations to give a luminescence to the black feathers of the raven. Next students listened to descriptions of raven from the supernatural view and the scientific view. Both were compared and contrasted using a Venn Diagram.
