| Students were first introduced to what lichens are, fungi and algae living together in a symbiotic relationship. Algae provide the food (sugars) through photosynthesis and fungi supply the water. Students then explored the tundra trying to collect as many different lichen samples as they could find. Then they examined the lichens closely to see if they could find organisms using the lichens as shelter. | |
