Step 1: Identify what your story is about.

Step 2: Identify who you can interview.

Example:

Name: Pat Hahn
Job / Position related to the story: Assistant Fire Chief

Name: Denise Michels
Job / Position related to the story: Nome Mayor

Name: Randy Romenesko
Job / Position related to the story: City Manager

Name: Colton
Job / Position related to the story: Student

Name: Raechel
Job / Position related to the story: Student

Step 3: Write the questions you will ask each person.

Examples:

Pat Hahn
1) What did the fire department do during the storm?
2) Was anyone's life in danger?
3) Did anyone get hurt?
4) Is there any other information you think I should know, that you would like to share?

Colton
1) How and when did you find out school was cancelled?
2) What did you do all day?
3) How did it affect your family?
4) Is there any other information you think I should know, that you would like to share?

Step 4: Write an script to introduce yourself to the people you want to interview.

Include…
1) Who you are
2) What you are doing
3) Where you go to school
4) Ask them when a good time is for them to meet with you.
