The book takes place during modern times. Harry Potter is a thirteen-year-old wizard who lives in England. Harry is ready to start his third year at Hogwarts a School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Harry lives with his only living relatives, the Dursleys. The Dursleys hate Harry. They used to keep him locked in the cupboard under the stairs, but ever since he came back from his first year at Hogwarts they treated him with a little more respect.

When Harry goes to Diagon Alley, an entrance to the wiazarding world in London, he hears rumors about an old friend of his father's. His name is Sirius Black. All the rumors say that Sirius had betrayed James Potter and had killed ten Muggles and a wizard named Peter Pettigrew. Peter was also a friend of James.

When the first term starts Sirius Black has tried many times to break into Hogwarts! The headmaster of Hogwarts had to put up dementors as guards! Everyone seems to be acting strangely to Harry, a little over-protective with him. What is going on?

To find out why Sirius Black is trying so hard to steal himself into Hogwarts, to find out what a dementor is, and to find out what is causing the strange actions from Harry's colleagues, you must read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

I liked the book because you can learn something about friendship, and who your true friends are. You can also learn that things are not always what they seem. I recommend this book to nine years old and older.
