Education: High School Graduate Anoka MN, Vincennes University (48 semester hours), Central Texas Collage (Crime Scene Investigation), University of Alaska (12 Semester Hours).  Multiple courses through out my military career including Instructor Training Course, Master Fitness Trainer, Pathfinder, First Sergeant course, and Inspector General course.

Professional Certificates: State of Alaska EMT II, Fire Fighter I, Certified Environmental Trainer, Medic First Aid CPR/AED/First Aid Trainer, SCUBA Schools International Dive Control Specialist

Time in Alaska:  24 Years, residing in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Nome

Background: Born and raised in Minnesota, Graduated from Anoka Sr. High School, Anoka MN, joined the US Army for 3 years active duty as a Military Police Officer and over 23 years in the Alaska Army National Guard as an Infantryman (6 years traditional guardsman and 17 years active guard and reserve/full time). Married to Janice Knowlton with 3 children, Daughter Kalie Knowlton, step daughter Amanda Alvanna and step son Curtis Alvanna.

While in High School was a member of the Cross Country Team, Wrestling Team, Cross Country Ski Team and Track Team.  While in the Alaska Army National Guard Have competed at the national level in Biathlon and Marksmanship as a Sniper where our team placed 18th in the nation.

Community participation performing duties as a firefighter / search and rescue on the Nome Volunteer Fire Department and as the Lieutenant and Emergency Medical Services responder for the Nome Volunteer Ambulance Departments.
